Book Beginning:
Prologue
Seven years ago...
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, her dad always said. Unfortunately, he was right. Meg rarely wore makeup, she was more of a tomboy, but today she wanted to look special. Chad and his brothers would be at the dance, and it was probably the last time she would see him before he left for college. He couldn't leave for college still thinking of her as little Megs. God, she hated that nickname.
Friday 56 (from 56% on my Kindle):
(Megan's dad having a man-to-man talk with Chad.)
"I may be old but I'm not stupid. I know that Megan had a major crush on you when she was a teenager. I'm not sure she's ever gotten over it. So if you are just playing with her, you can walk right back out that door."

Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteThis one might be good as a quick in-fill read if I couldn't find anything else, but it definitely isn't something I would buy for myself - a bit too light and fluffy! Sorry :)
I am pleased that you enjoyed it however, even if was mainly the parts featuring Laddie!
It's a good job we don't all like the same thing, or there would really be nothing left for us to compare notes and chat about!
Have a good weekend and thanks for sharing.
Yvonne.
As the old saying goes, "That's what makes horse racing." You're right -- it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.
DeleteThanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.
This one does sound fun to me...I'm a sucker for people reconnecting...and there is usually an interesting story that comes out when that is happening. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: “COPPER BEACH”
This was a cute story and a quick read -- only 92 pages long.
DeleteThat book sounds like a good one. I loved the beginning and that man to man chat! I have to look this one up. :)
ReplyDeleteMy first Friday 56!

Friday 56
Welcome to The Friday 56, and thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI like the dialogue of both the 56 and the Book Beginnings. I don't blame her abt. Little Meg. That seems like a little sister name.
ReplyDeleteShe works hard to overcome that "little sister" image.
DeleteThis does look fun! I'm not a huge western romance fan but I do like mixing in books that are a little different here and there. Love the excerpts!
ReplyDeleteI like to read different genres too, even though sometimes I'm disappointed. At least I tried something unusual.
DeleteSounds like a good book to read.
ReplyDeleteOooohhhh...this sounds really good. I'm going to have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteJust at the right time...I am so in the mood for something just purely entertaining! Thanks Sandy!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice Sandra! It sounds really fun and I was a tomboy growing up. I also love animals as important characters in a story. From being the hero to being the comic relief, it's all good.
ReplyDeleteHere's my 56 - http://fuonlyknew.com/2015/01/09/the-friday-56-47-dinosaur-lake-iii-infestation/
I agree. Animals add so much to a story.
DeleteI enjoy a light entertaining read with the best of them, and this looks like just that. Thanks for sharing, I'll be adding this author to my 'get to know' list.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love when the father gives a guy a talking-to.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteInteresting, I like stories with people reconnect after years. :D
ReplyDeleteMy first co-written book (I.O.U. Sex) has three women tracking down and reconnecting with their former high school boyfriends. You might enjoy it!
DeleteUsually not my type, but it does sound fun. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine.
Sounds like they will be married by the end of the book! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Great beginning...I love that saying. :)
ReplyDeleteENJOY your day, and I hope you are warm.
