What I Did This Summer - #SaturdaySnapshots

Just a few random photos of this past summer's activities. I'm looking forward to cooler weather, but I'll miss the fun we had over the past few months too. Here's my back-to-school photo essay about "What I Did This Summer."

My granddaughter spent almost every Wednesday at our house this summer. What a delight that was! One of our favorite afternoon rituals was sitting on the deck, eating Popsicles. After we finished, we'd read the riddles written on the sticks. These were perfect for a five-year-old's sense of humor.

We visited lots of local parks. Climbs to the top of these structures can turn a grandma's hair gray!

Afternoons "camping" in the back yard and blowing bubbles.

Ziplining (kid-sized equipment).

Swimming in the front yard. (First attempt at video with my new camera. Sorry.)

We also read lots of books, drew masterpieces with crayons, raced Hot Wheels, and had tea parties. A great summer that I'll never forget.

  2. Okay - I'm not exactly sure what it says about me or my sense of humor that I loved the Popsicle stick riddles so much:)

  3. That's a nice age, no too much attitude yet lol!

  4. What a fun age. We had quite a bit of time with grandkids this summer also although because they don't live close, it was days or weeks at a time. They are growing up way too fast.

  5. What fun! I love those Popsicle sticks and their messages...that wading pool reminds me of days gone by for me, too. My grandchildren think they are too grown up, and, of course they are now.

Enjoy these precious days! Thanks for sharing, and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

  7. How wonderful to spend all that time with your granddaughter and do "kid stuff" for fun! On-the-go moments but also relaxing together times.

We had our 13 year old granddaughter come fly out and visit us (chose just her because of the expense and the others are too young to fly alone). However, her age was kind of awkward and harder to deal with. She spent much time looking at her phone, and was trapped between kid adventures and teen ones. Still, we cherished out time together.

  8. I'm enjoying this age, especially since I know it's fleeting. It won't be long before tea parties and bubble blowing are boring, and time with Grandma and Grandpa will be a chore. I'm sure I went through that myself.

  9. This sounds like the perfect way to spend a summer. I am sure she will have fond memories of these days.

  10. Thank you for sharing these special family moments. I remember similar ones with my siblings, who have long ago outgrown their childhood.

The structures are much more complicated than ones I remember as a child. I do miss the days of enjoying Popsicles. Blowing bubbles is now an activity done to entertain our pets.
