Little Library - Saturday Snapshots

Have you heard of Little Free Libraries? I have but I hadn't seen one until we took a drive to Woodinville, Washington. This one was located on the side of the road on the way to the Columbia and Chateau Ste Michele wineries.

If you're curious about the Little Free Library organization or would like to start one of your own, here's a link that will tell you more. It even includes a map of locations and instructions for building a little library of your own.

  1. I love this idea, although this one doesn't doesn't look very weather proof!

  3. I wish they were more prevalent in this area. I am afraid of the weather and then the just general disregard for other people's stuff that would happen to a Little Library around here. I guess I am cynical. The one you found is so cute.

  4. I've seen a few but not in my neighbourhood. I think they are great.

  5. I also wondered how the books in this open shelving would hold up in our wet Pacific Northwest weather. However, since I didn't get out and examine the structure, there may be a way to cover them on drizzly days that wasn't apparent.

  8. I've heard about these. One of my favorites, along the same line, was a post office, at Camp Sherman, Oregon. They had some shelves full of books. The request was you take the books and return them or bring others in trade. I haven't been in there in a few years but loved it as that's a camping area where often, with tents, people didn't bring along books. Lots of romances incidentally in their stacks. :)

  9. Oh, I love these! I have a friend in DC who is obsessed with them! Here's a picture of one of the more adorable ones she posted: https://informedhumane.wordpress.com/2016/01/03/take-a-book-leave-a-book-at-twinbrook/
