Stella in Stilettos - Book Beginnings on Friday and The Friday 56

I'm only partway into STELLA IN STILETTOS by Jan Romes, but I can already tell it's going to be a fun story. Looks like Stella has to choose between two men--Mr. Right (she has communicated with him online only, through an online dating site) and sexy co-worker Alex Clay (AKA Mr. Wrong). The dialogue is witty, and the characters are likable and seem real. I'm enjoying the author's writing style and sense of humor, and I'm looking forward to finding out who Stella ends up with!

"Calm down, people," Stella Matson muttered under her breath, fumbling with the sip-tab of her Styrofoam cup. All she wanted to deal with was the caffeine buzz, not the bedlam of Monday morning. Today, the commotion seemed extra loud, almost deafening. She took a careful sip of piping hot coffee.

And here's my FRIDAY 56 choice from 56% on my Kindle:
Stella practically fell into Alex's arms. He whirled her onto the dance floor.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Length: 269 Pages

~ Sometimes you have to break the rules; sometimes you have to break them wearing stilettos ~
Stella Matson has had it with handsome guys who schmooze their way into a woman's heart and walk out the door when they get a better offer. As far as she's concerned, she needs to focus on the one thing that won't leave her teary-eyed on a Friday night - her job with the lingerie company. When drop-dead gorgeous, Alex Clay, is assigned to her department, the plan to focus on work is threatened along with her heart.
Alex Clay is restless and trying to find his place in the business world. His boss seems to be grooming him for big things by giving him a taste of everything from the mailroom to the boardroom. When he does a short stint in the advertising department and meets hardheaded but intriguing, Stella Matson, she challenges his convictions and stirs an unwanted desire. He doesn't know whether to kiss her until they're both breathless, or find a new job.

Oh, no, sexy guys at work are the worst!

That takes me back...and that's all I'm saying about it. LOL

Thanks for sharing what sounds like a fun read...and for visiting my blog.

It is a cute story--a fun escape.

This definitely sounds like a fun read! Unfortunately there aren't many sexy guys where I work. I tried dating one of them but realised relationships and work don't go together very well! I completely understand Stella's dedication to her coffee btw! Thanks for sharing :) Enjoy your weekend!

Of course I love the cover! AND the title and Stella sounds like the kind of character I could really love. Going on my list....:)

I can relate to that opening. There are very few men in my profession so the odds of my meeting a sexy co-worker are slim to none. It does sound cute, I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Sandra,

This one for me would be escapism pure and simple and probably a bit too 'cheesy' to enjoy. However, I really like those opening lines and the cover art is well thought through. As I am a volunteer in a charity shop, there are no sexy hunks on offer for me, just a load of sweet little old ladies, old enough to be my mum!

Thanks for sharing and have a good weekend.

Can I just say how much I love the TITLE of your blog! So cute! I'm not much for romance but I'm always open for good suggestions. Thanks for finding me!

I'll bet you meet a lot of interesting people in your charity shop!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your kind compliments. I'm glad we connected. I try to feature books other than romances and women's fiction, but those are the genres I usually read.

Same here, Laurel-Rain. I once dated a man I worked with, and I wouldn't recommend that! And that's all I'm saying about it.

Mondays are like that for me too. Looks like her Monday is being balanced out by some romance though!

Or in this case ... cup of coffee! I like to read a variety of genres, so maybe next time I'll post about one that's more to your taste.

Seems so romantic. Remember ballroom dancing? I guess that's like Dancing with The Stars.

This sounds like a fun bit of escape. I can totally relate to the desperately needed coffee but having to deal with chaos first! Thanks for sharing.
