“I'd like the rib eye—well done—and a baked potato with all the fixin’s. First, please, bring me a Cosmopolitan.”
Elly stared across the table at her grandmother's sparkling eyes, placed her own order, and then asked, “A Cosmopolitan?”
“Yep. Ever since I saw those girls on Sex and the City drinking Cosmopolitans, I've wanted to try one.” She chuckled and whispered. “I have no notion what it is.”

That last line is just so adorable. Got to love granny.
ReplyDeleteShe was a lot of fun to write.
DeleteThat is a favorite scene of mine in the book! I loved how Granny enjoyed trying out new things, and I can almost hear her ordering this meal. LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurel-Rain. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. Thank you for leaving reviews on Amazon and Goodreads too. That means so much.
DeleteOrdering a drink that she doesn't even know what it is? Hope she doesn't get a shock when it comes to the table. Great scene!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! So down to earth, just love it! TBR! Wonderful 8, Sandy! :-)
ReplyDeletehaha, that's just too cute! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like this Granny Macauley. She's not afraid to try something new. If it doesn't work out, I bet she just orders something else. I get the feeling that this could develop into a really interesting conversation.
ReplyDeleteGranny is less cautious than her granddaughter Elly.
DeleteShe's a real character that granny and like everyone else I think she's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove granny. She's awesome. She'll probably love the Cosmo : )
ReplyDeleteGranny's are special and yours is a kick. My mom loved Lady Fashion so much she bought a mix and hid it in the pantry 'til Dad found it. Bye bye drinking the pink cocktail. A delightful eight. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your mom had a Granny-like personality!
DeleteGranny sounds like so much fun, wish I was sitting there with them LOL. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteShe's got an awesome, fun personality. It's nice to find elderly characters who aren't stereotypes, but just as interesting as younger characters.
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteDon't drink myself, but I loved Granny's comment.
ReplyDeleteI love a good cosmo. This snippet is adorable. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a cosmo and while writing this, I started to do some research on the drink. Then it occurred to me that Granny would never have tasted one either. So I went with that.
DeleteWhat a cute snippet. You had me chuckling over Granny's comment. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I could give you a smile.
DeleteFunny! I love her style and Sex in the City! Great 8!
ReplyDeleteGranny tries to stay current.
DeleteLOL, I love this woman already! I imagine she'll be even more of a good time when she's a little bit tipsy. Awesome snippet, Sandra! :)

ReplyDeleteLove that granny still has an experimental and adventurous streak in her! :)
