Hansville Greenway Hike, #Kitsap Peninsula - #SaturdaySnapshots

After days of rain, the hiking group was lucky to have a partly sunny Friday for our hike. Here are a few photos from Hansville Greenway, Kitsap Peninsula, Washington. (Click on photos to enlarge.)

Much of the hike followed wide paths.
They were clearly marked and easy to follow.
Can you see the face in this
mossy stump?
Our hike led us to a viewing platform
where we ate our lunch...
overlooking this marsh.
A beaver lodge!

A closer look at the forest floor along
the trail revealed this bright red wood.

Yes, it really was that red.

Back in the tiny town of Hansville, we stopped
for ice cream at a cafe overlooking Puget Sound.
The land in the distance is Whidbey Island.

  5. Deb Nance: I've been wondering if Saturday Snapshot participants are tired of seeing photos from my hikes. Glad to hear you're still enjoying them. This outing was lots of fun, in spite of spooky tree stumps.

  6. Laurel-Rain: My hiking group is very observant. I never know what they'll notice along the way. It helps that some are knowledgeable about local plants and trees, too. That makes the hikes even more interesting.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my post.

  8. Gorgeous photos, as always, Sandra! What a beautiful day. We haven't seen the sun much around here lately. And everything out there looks so different from around here - I am dying to explore the NW someday!

    Thanks for sharing -

  9. Thanks for visiting my blog, Sue. We've had lots of rain lately, too, so a dry day for hiking was a delight. Of course, the trail was muddy in places from previous rainfall, but that's okay. We all just plow on through!
