Tame deer near the visitor center. What a view! |
We walked to the top of High Ridge Trail and beyond |
View from "You Are Here" on the map above. See the hikers near the top of the rise? |
View across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Canada. My cell phone sent me a message saying "Welcome to Canada." |
Break for lunch. Food always tastes better outdoors, doesn't it? |
To get to our lunch spot, we hiked along the side of the bare hill on the left and up past those little patches of snow in the middle of the photo. The road into the park is on the right (middle). |
Looking back the way we came. |

ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy. I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I had a terrific time.
DeleteThat does happen with the phones when you get close to borders. Once my phone welcomed me to Bangladesh!
ReplyDeleteThat was the first time my phone had welcomed me to another country. I was definitely surprised!
DeleteSuch amazing scenery as you say- a stunning part of the world. It looks like you walked a long way- do you know the distance you walked? How long did it take your group?
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a comment, Louise. Our group stayed at Hurricane Ridge most of the day, but I don't remember how long we spent hiking. Altogether, I'm guessing we walked at least seven or eight miles there. My FitBit showed 11+ miles for the day, but that includes exploring the visitor center, walking along Crescent Lake, and line dancing that evening in addition to the Hurricane Ridge hiking.
DeleteWhat a great hike...and views of the surrounding mountains and trees! A gorgeous setting that reminds us all of the beauty of Nature.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Visitors can see most of this gorgeous scenery from their cars. The drive up to the visitor's center has steep drop-offs but it is paved and well-maintained. Definitely worth a visit.
DeleteOlympic National Park is a beautiful place and definitely worth a visit. I hope you're able to visit the area sometime.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and leaving a comment on my post.

DeleteI haven't done hiking for a long time :( Unfortunately for me I have to go south Poland for this activity. Long journey... These are wonderful views. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky to have so many wonderful hiking and walking trails close by. Our weather is generally mild, too. Having a group to hike with makes it even more fun.

What beautiful photos. You can just smell that clean air.
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect, clear day. Since then, wildfires in British Columbia have filled the air with smoke-- all the way down into Seattle in the U.S. Thank heavens that has cleared out now!
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Your photos are beautiful! You brought back memories of past hiking trips. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed my photos. Thank you for the kind words.
