I can't believe I'm standing here with a gun in my hand. And it's pointed at his chest. My heart's pounding in such a pronounced manner you would think I just ran five miles. But there's anger mixed with the adrenalin coursing through my system.
Teaser (from 20% on my Kindle) (I love this description!)
As I parked beside the gate, the meanest dog I've ever seen greeted me. It was one part Doberman, one part German shepherd, ten parts ugly. In case the dog was as smart as he was ugly, I locked my door and stayed inside.

A few traffic stops and a high speed chase later, Jamie’s ride takes an unexpected turn when she witnesses the trooper being shot. Although it is not a fatal injury, Jamie becomes obsessed with unraveling the facts behind this violent act. While she is trying to sort out this puzzle, she becomes romantically involved with Malone, another trooper with a few mysteries of his own. Laughed out loud at the teaser.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite post-1980 romance is P.S. I Love You. Great movie. (The book is just as good.)
I haven't seen this movie! Now I'll definitely add it to my Netflix queue.
DeleteHmmm, not sure about this one. Hope you enjoy it though.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you enjoy your reading! Here is my Tuesday post https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/tuesday-first-chapter-first-paragraph-march-24/
ReplyDeleteIt's a good story that kept me guessing whodunit.
DeleteThe opener didn't grab me but the teaser made me laugh! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteNot a genre I usually read, but that teaser is pretty funny. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI liked the beginning and the teaser...ten parts ugly, lol. I'd continue reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I would keep reading this one. My DH and I have been watching Longmire S1 and S2 on Netflix, now contemplating how to watch S3 without spending a fortune. So we like law enforcement stories.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite romantic movie made after 1980 is Under a Tuscan Sun. I have not read the book, but I have watched the movie twice.
I've read this book a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It's one of my favorites too.
DeleteThe opening is intense! It would keep me reading. I want to know what she does next! I love a kick a$$ heroine.
ReplyDeleteA favorite romantic movie . . . Ever After. I love how Drew Barrymore's character isn't one to wait for the prince to be rescued. I took my daughter to see the new Cinderella movie this weekend and was surprised at how much I liked it. There was definite chemistry between the two stars. One of those movies that make you sigh in happiness at the end.
I liked Ever After too. So sweet.
DeleteLove the sound of this one...you had me at "strong female characters, humor and romance."
ReplyDeleteMy favorite post-80s romance movie: When Harry Met Sally. (chezraine@gmail.com).
Thanks for visitng my blog.
I can't tell you how many times I've watched reruns of this movie on TV. It never gets old for me.
DeleteAnd you thought DEAD HEAT sounded gritty? LOL Good teaser, Sandy. So hard to pick just one favorite movie, but I'll go with the one almost no one else knows: SPEECHLESS with Geena Davis and Michael Keaton.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandra. I enjoy mysteries and when they're a series, that's even better.
ReplyDeleteGlad you stopped by mine for Dead and Gone at http://wp.me/pZnGI-lC and left your link.
I'm looking forward to reading the other two books in the series.
DeleteI would be terrified of an intimidating dog like that too! I'm reading a mystery/thriller as well, I hope you're enjoying this one :)
ReplyDeleteI love that description too! Sounds interesting and something I'd enjoy reading. :)
ReplyDeleteOh this sounds like a good one, great teaser! Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteLove the dog description in your teaser.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great comments. Jamie is such a great character that she keeps demanding my attention. She is definitely a girl with a kick butt attitude.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Mark. I enjoyed getting to know Jamie, and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble she gets into in the next two books.
DeleteSounds like an excellent book! I want to read this one.
ReplyDeleteThose are some intense quotes. I want to read more. Always looking for more mysteries.

Eeeek, I would stay in with the doors locked too. Mean dogs scare me (even if they just look mean).
ReplyDeleteSounds like an intriguing read :)
