My son and I on a wild ride down the Taylor River, Colorado. Great fun! (A long time ago.) I'm the one wearing the yellow life jacket. |
My son made this raft and poled it around Lake Irwin, Colorado. I'm not sure how seaworthy it was, but he didn't fall in! (Also long ago. He's 40 now.) |
Punting on the Cam River, Cambridge, England. Same idea as my son's raft, but oh, so civilized. |
Sailboat -- Quiet, tranquil, lovely. Santa Barbara, California |
Battleship Texas, dry docked at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, LaPorte, Texas |
The Statendam, Holland America cruise of Alaska's Inside Passage |

Lovely idea for a theme this week :-)
ReplyDeleteThe day I was in Cambridge was too miserable to even consider going out in a punt!
Ah but the cruise of Alaska's inside passge is something (that sounds a little wrong!!) but I would love to do one day :-)
We had a great time on the Alaska cruise and saw so much beauty. Maybe I'll feature that trip in a future Saturday Snapshot post. I'd like to go again.
DeleteI love these, Sandy. Such variety. I love the one in England. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful time in England. Our "home base" was London, and we took the Tube, trains, buses, and taxis to get around. We saw a lot on day trips in just a couple of weeks, but there's so much more we'd like to see and do. I'm ready to go back.
DeleteThis covers the whole spectrum of boating! LOL Such fun to be on the water, no matter the vessel!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the post. I was looking for something in my writing room and came across the Cambridge photo in a drawer. That inspired today's post.
DeleteWhat an awesome idea for a topic. Your son did a good job with his raft as it is not as easy as it looks to make something that actually floats and can support a person. The Battleship looks very much like the Wisconsin which is on permanent display nearby in Norfolk. Thanks for sharing.

When I started searching for photos for this post, I found way too many to include in one post. Guess I've been on a lot of boats over the years! I'm glad you enjoyed my photos.
DeleteGreat theme, and I enjoyed seeing the range of boats. I really loved that Cam River display. I must admit that I haven't been on very many kinds of boats...sailboats and speedboats, but I have never even been on a cruise. Wow! I wonder why that is? Oh, yes, being on a boat for any length of time arouses my feeling of claustrophobia....LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the lovely boats...and here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
This a great theme. You have a good collection. :)
ReplyDeleteI have lots more photos of boats...too many for one post!
DeleteLots of trip memories. Good collection.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures! I would love to do this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea for a theme post! I particularly loved seeing Huck Finn on his raft! I always wanted to make one when I was a kid! I loved the picture of the punts on the English river too! So colorful!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom, that raft was kind of scary to me, but my son had a great time making and launching it. Sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and let your kids take risks -- within reason!
DeleteNice photos, I love these boats !!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and very varied selection of vessels.
ReplyDeleteI love all things water! Ironically, my husband and I have never been on a raft. My home town offers a rafting package. Maybe I'll have to brave it. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely series of photos, and a lovely series of memories. I cruised the inside passage back in the 80s- such an incredible area. I'd love to go back one day.
ReplyDeleteMe too. That cruise was one of my favorite vacations.
DeleteI love this! My favorite is your sons raft! Very cool! I grew up with a sailboat and love being on the water!
