Here's my two-sentence snippet from
Page 69 (paperback copy).
Teaser:
He wondered, while he ate his sandwich at the bar of the inn, if he would know Siân Richards if she walked in now, if when their eyes met she would know him. He'd been replaying various scenarios for days, imagining their first encounter after thirty-one years.
Genre: Literary Fiction
Length: 240 Pages

What would you do if out of the blue, you received a letter from your first love? Siân Richards sees no reason why she can't write back to Charles Callahan. After all, it's been thirty years and they are both married with families. But when they decide to meet again, an innocent correspondence becomes a dangerous intimacy. Swept up in the past and consumed by an obsessive love, Charles and Siân risk everything to be together. A heart-wrenching, suspenseful story with an unforgettable conclusion, Where or When is also a 'thoughtful, beautifully written contemporary romance' (The Washington Post).

I haven't read any Anita Shreve, though I do have a couple on my shelf. I hear she's good, so maybe I'll make time for them this fall.
ReplyDeleteToday I'm featuring Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld
http://mytime2read.blogspot.com/2014/08/tuesday-memes-sisterland.html
She is an excellent writer, but her books tend to move slowly. I'm okay with that.
DeleteAm not familiar with this author's work, but it certainly sounds good. Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteShe has written quite a few books. The ones I've read would be classified as "women's fiction."
DeleteThat sounds really intriguing! I haven't read anything by this author before. Maybe now, I'll have to look into it. I'm pretty curious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TT
Wow! Sounds like there might be a teensy bit of a cheating aspect. I'm not fond of those but it sounds interesting. That's a great teaser!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy books where people revisit the past.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this one. It makes me wonder about the characters relationship and why they haven't seen each other in so long! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy Teaser.
Why the long wait between meeting again? Great teaser! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThat is a long time before meeting up! I have really enjoyed some of Anita Shreve's books but I have to be in the right mood to read them. As you say they are books to savour not to race through. Thanks for visiting my TT http://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2014/08/12/teaser-tuesday-august-12/
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way. Sometimes I want a book that dashes ahead, and other times I want the story to slowly unfold. The books I've read by this author are definitely the "slowly unfolding" type.
DeleteI read this one a long time ago, so it isn't fresh in my mind....but I would have to say it wasn't my favorite by this author, either. Thanks for sharing...and I do like the premise of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I have a different Anita Shreve book here and after reading that teaser I might get on it sooner.
ReplyDeleteLong time to good between meetings. Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteI've read many Shreve novels, but I don't ever remember seeing this one. I like the sound of it and will have to see if my library has a copy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog--have a great week.
It was worth reading. Just not one of my favorites.
DeleteGreat spoiler.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. As you know, my teaser today was from a biography of Robin Williams: http://pdworkman.com/good-bye-robin-williams-teasertuesday-mentalillness/
Not a run of the mill romance, with both characters married to others. Sounds interesting though.
ReplyDeleteI love this author. Great teaser!
ReplyDelete31 years later! I like the idea. Makes me wonder what happened to seperate them. And I don't mind a slow moving plot if the characters are well developed. I'm into character driven books and movies. I'll have to try this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my tease.
Since you like character driven stories, you'll like all of Anita Shreve's books.
DeleteHeh. I think that's something we have all done when thinking about meeting someone we haven't seen for a very long time
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say I really like the cover! And the teaser is lovely! I'm really curious, the book sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing (:
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like something I would like! I hope you're enjoying it :)
ReplyDeleteThirty-one years!? Oh my. The last two words actually make the teaser interesting.
ReplyDeleteKero @ Kero's Book Blog
Though, I suppose everyone would wonder if they'd recognise someone after thirty-one years. :)
ReplyDeleteI've wondered if I would recognize people after such a long time, especially when I get invitations to reunions. Of course thanks to Facebook, I know now what some of them look like. Thanks for sharing and thanks for coming by my blog!
ReplyDeleteCool cover:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a romantic reunion! I am curious :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh... I wonder what happened! Great tease!
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting my TT
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
That looks interesting. Lots of things must have happened in 31 years. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me he would! :) Great teaser!!
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Paper Cuts
