More #MountRainier

Another great hike originating from Mount Rainier's Sunrise area. This trek started at the visitor center and connected with the Wonderland Trail...

skirted Shadow Lake ...

crossed a footbridge...

meandered along verdant meadows, most dotted with wildflowers...

and climbed toward Frozen Lake.

We decided not to cross a snowy patch to reach the overlook to Frozen Lake. Maybe later in the summer.

Nice spot for lunch!

Our route covered about five miles.

  2. Looks like it was partly cloudy on the mountain. Your photos manage to convey a sense of solitude and quiet, taking in the majesty of it all.

  3. Thank you, Judy and Klara, for leaving comments. Yesterday was partly cloudy with occasional sunbreaks. The temp was nice and cool (probably in the 60s), though I did work up a sweat. The trails were not crowded at all, which was nice, so there were many moments of quiet. LOVE breathing that clean mountain air!

Can't wait to go back to Mt. Rainier and see it properly.

Thank you Sandra, for coming over my blog and helping me identify the tree with all that peeling bark. I think you are right. I looked up some pictures and it sure looks like a Melaleuca. Thank you so much.
