Amaryllis - #SaturdaySnapshots

I've been laid low by the creeping crud that seems to be going around, so I'm only posting two photos today. I took these the last time my amaryllis bloomed. Right now it's sitting in the cold, dark garage. Maybe this harsh treatment will ensure its bloom in the spring.

  1. I've never had much of a green thumb, but you seem to be great with plants!

    1. I love having plants in my home. Blooms on my African violets brighten our dark Pacific Northwest days.

  2. I love the stunning colors of the amaryllis...and I hope you beat down the creeping crud. I have been battling it all week, too.

  5. I got a potted one as a gift last September. A writer friend of mine was visiting town several years after moving, and all of us in the critique group (and then some) came to my house for a lunch. I'm not a natural hostess but it came off so well I was thrilled, and will never forget how much fun we had. The amaryllis took months to bloom and now I'm hoping to replant and see it happen again. AMAZING flowers!! It will always remind me of that happy day.

  6. It is beautiful! It looks similar to hibiscus, which I have loved since first seeing one.
