Easter - 1950s Style - Saturday Snapshots

Back in the days of black-and-white photos my dad loved to take pictures with his Kodak Brownie camera. Here are some he captured at Easter time over the years.

Eat. Eggs. NOW.
My brother, mom, and me at an
Easter egg hunt (Dallas, TX)
White anklets, patent leather shoes, bowtie.
Yep, that's the Fifties, all right! How 'bout that TV and those curtains?
Fancy hats, Easter purses, and
dig that crazy jacket!
Giant Mutant Bunnies!
I'm surprised  we didn't run screaming

from these creepy critters.
I'm not so sure this is a good idea
I hope these pictures brought back good memories for you or at least gave you a smile.
Happy Easter!

  1. What a lovely selection of shots. I love your mum's frills in the first one, but those bunnies are a bit scarey.

    1. That style of blouse was called a "peasant blouse" -- back in the 1950s and early 1960s in Texas. I loved them and had several myself.

    1. I love looking at clothing styles in old photos too. I could have included photos of my Easter dresses from every year, but didn't want the post to be too long. Thank you for dropping by.

  5. Wow, those pix take me back! Patent leather shoes and Easter hats. We always had to have a hat, too. Remember that song "In your Easter bonnet..."? Now you have inspired me to look for my really old pictures. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

    1. I wonder if most children are intimidated by huge characters in costume? I sure was!

  7. Those giant bunnies are a bit overwhelming. These photos made me want to look back through family photos to find old easter shots of my family of origin, too. My Snapshot Saturday highlights tulips
