Then several days ago my daughter-in-law loaned me a book - Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter - and much of the story is set in the Cinque Terre! So I pulled out my photo album from our Italy trip, scanned the film-camera photos, and decided to feature a few of them on today's Saturday Snapshots. I'm focusing on the town of Manarola today, since that's where we stayed. Here's a map to get you oriented.

ReplyDeleteI'd like to spend a month in Italy. Even though we were there for a couple of weeks, there's so much we didn't have time to see. I'm sure even a month wouldn't be long enough.
DeleteAmazing photos. Wonderful that you could spend time hiking and not just sped through these places in a car. The first photo is like one taken from a fairy tale.
ReplyDeleteEven if we're not able to spend much time in a place, I like to walk around as much as we can. Our walk overlooking the sea was amazing, even though we didn't venture down to the water!

DeleteThe Cinque Terre has been named a World Heritage Site since we visited. It is certainly deserving of that designation.

I wrote the review right away, but...I guess it says something that I wasn't enthusiastic about posting the review. But the high point was the description of the scenes in Italy, so I love your photos!
