My Teaser:
Yet here she was, this tiny black woman with a huge messenger bag, holding out a business card with the words Child Protective Services as if my child needed protecting. From me.

Goodreads Synopsis:
For her previous novels (Things We Didn't Say, The Life You've Imagined, Real Life & Liars), author Kristina Riggle has garnered fabulous reviews and established herself as a rapidly rising star of contemporary women's fiction. In Keepsake, she explores that most complicated of relationships, as two sisters raised by a hoarder deal with old hurts and resentments, and the very different paths their lives have taken. As always, Riggle approaches important topics poignantly and honestly--including hoarding and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in her remarkable Keepsake--while writing with real emotional power and compassion about families and their baggage. For readers of Katrina Kittle and Elin Hildenbrand, Kristina Riggle's Keepsake is a treasure.

Sounds good, the teaser is great! I see this one gets your attention right off! This is a new author to me that I'd like to check out.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the writing, as well as the story. Also, this book is virtually free of errors, which I always appreciate.

ReplyDeleteI used to watch Hoarders on A&E...made me sad and a little scared, frankly. Then I befriended a woman in Florida who asked me to help clean out her house as they we going to remodel and lo and behold...she was a hoarder! Trust me, I was NOT equipped to handle her emotional outburst each time I tried to toss something! I mean, we're talking baby clothes from her children who are now 30, and 26 and long gone. These folks need professional help. So I might get this. Great cover!

What an experience! I learned a lot from reading this book, while enjoying the story of the two sisters. One thing that surprised me was that if you met the hoarder away from her home, you would never suspect her home was such a disaster. I expected she would have worn crumpled, smelly clothes, but that wasn't the case at all.
DeleteThis is a good teaser! I am not sure what I would do if that were me on the receiving end from Child Protective Services - (not that I have kids yet)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TT.

Oh, I'm glad you loved this one, too. Once I dived into it, like you, I couldn't stop until I finished. And then I had to look up and read some others. And now I just finished her new one, The Whole Golden World. Awesome, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
I have a feeling I learned about this book from one of your Teaser Tuesday posts! I'll read more books by this author too.
DeleteInteresting teaser. What was she doing that brought the woman to her door.

The character loves her son and wants the best from him, but her hoarding is causing problems for him. That's all I'll say. You'll have to read the book to find out more.
DeleteThis one might be a little too close to home for me. My whole family is calling my dh squarely because of the way he keeps piling things up.
ReplyDeleteI can see how you might want to avoid this book. However, it also could give you some insight into what's going on with your dh.
DeleteGood point. Maybe it's wroth the flinch factor.
DeleteBTW, I meant to say squirrelly not squarely. Stupid auto-correct.
I love that cover! I read this one and enjoyed it. Enough that I plan to read the author's next book, The Whole Golden World! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI'll be reading her next book too. I like the way she delved deeply into her characters.
DeleteIve only watched some of the TV program and feel the same, I wonder what goes through their mind!! Sounds intriguing :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a book I won't soon forget.
DeleteLooks like it could be an interesting book.
ReplyDeleteIt is. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.

ReplyDeleteIt's definitely worth reading. Thank you for your comment.
DeleteGood teaser, it sounds like an interesting read and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :)
This books sounds amazing but sad. You certainly have me intrigued! Awww, don't worry about your fabric hoarding, and I won't worry about my book hoarding ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd in case you didn't get my reply on my blog: That book is a novella and ties in with her Hopeless series, but it works great as a stand-alone! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by :)
I know you hoped to reassure me, but the ugly truth is ... I hoard books too!
DeleteThanks for answering my question about your Teaser Tuesday post.
Sounds very interesting. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by my site.

trish - my teaser
That's an awesome teaser! And I agree with you, I have always been very curious about what it is that makes people unable to throw away stuff. Ever. I hope she'll be able to keep her child with her!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier :)
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
I enjoyed your Teaser Tuesday post too. I'm always curious about what drives people and how they cope with their problems. This author taught me a lot about OCD -- without "teaching."
DeleteOh, that sounds interesting! Thank you for stopping by my blog, if you don't mind, I will leave my teaser too. http://themightycrow.wordpress.com/2013/10/15/teaser-tuesday-2/
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your teaser. This isn't something I would usually gravitate toward, but you have piqued my interest :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it when authors delve deeply into their characters and what motivates them. The author did a great job of showing the character's denial in this book without being too heavy. I'll probably reread it in the future.
DeleteA promising beginning, sounds like an interesting read! Thanks for stopping by my teaser :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this book too. Kristina is a local author that I've yet to meet. Hopefully with her new book out, I will.
ReplyDeleteIf Keepsake is an example of her writing, I'll be buying all of her books!
DeleteHmm, sounds like it's going to be a dramatic read. Lovely teaser, thanks for sharing & stopping by Bookmunchies (:
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser Sandra!! This definitely sounds like a great book! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteAlexis @ Lexi Swoons
I have read a couple books by the author and have A Whole Golden World on my wishlist since Laurel-Rain mentioned reading it. Thanks for mentioning this book by her that I didn't know about. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteA Whole Golden World is also on my wishlist now!
DeleteI have never read anything by this author but the book sounds great.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sign of a good book if it keeps you reading late into the night.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that sounds like an interesting read indeed. My dad is a hoarder, and I am the extreme opposite. Such a strange psychological condition. I would probably stay up all night reading this one too!
ReplyDeleteThere are two sisters in this story, and their mother was a hoarder. One of the sisters is a hoarder too, but the other is the opposite. Makes you wonder why one followed in her mother's footsteps and the other didn't!
DeleteOh no!! I hope not!
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting my TT
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
