Camp Berachah at Buck Creek - Saturday Snapshots

I didn't post last Saturday because I was enjoying a weekend in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest near Mount Rainier National Park. My writing group took advantage of a retreat at Camp Berachah at Buck Creek and had a great time (and did a lot of writing and brainstorming too). I'm ready to escape there again!

I took lots of pictures, but I think this one gives
the best "feel" of the camp's setting.
Tall trees, rustic cabins, peace and quiet.
Here's our cabin. Buck Creek provided soothing
background music and was just a short walk away.
Our rooms were austere but comfortable
enough. We brought our own linens and a few snacks,

but sumptuous meals were provided by the camp's hosts.
Trails right outside our door led to the
creek -- a great place to sit, enjoy nature,
and brainstorm new plot ideas.

The writing group is comprised of authors who write mysteries, romance, historical family sagas, fantasy, memoir, and more. We all found inspiration during our Buck Creek retreat and came away with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

    1. Although I didn't add a lot of words to my work-in-progress, I did come away with a lot of good ideas.

  4. What fun. I always come away tired but at the same time excited when I retreat with people who share my passions. I don't write, but quilt and sew. What an idyllic setting for inspiration.

  5. I could really enjoy a retreat like this one! I love the beach, but there is something mystical about a forest retreat. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog. You must have felt so inspired in these surroundings.

  6. Buck Creek? I love Buck Creek. We used to go there when it was a Presbyterian Camp. In fact, we spent one Thanksgiving Week-End there.

    1. There were probably only twenty people in the whole camp while we were there! The camp caretakers/hosts said their busiest time is winter because of the camp's proximity to the Crystal Mountain ski area. But they also had some groups coming during the summer months.

  8. That place looks ideal, such a beautiful location, even if the rooms are a bit spartan, I love your tree shot.

  12. On our summer vacations, my husband and I like to hike a lot. When I looked back at my photos from this year's trails, I decided that I have two obsessions in nature: trees and water. In other words, your photos and the location look great. :-)
