Saturday Snapshots - More Coffee, Please

When my husband and I went on a photo safari of our area (Seattle suburbs) to find more coffee kiosks, we came up with quite a few! So I'm continuing last week's post. This time we tried to capture the surroundings where the shops are situated. The photos I've posted were taken around two o'clock in the afternoon, and only one of the baristas had a customer (Sweet Cheeks Espresso). I hope these little independent businesses are able to survive.

Java 2 Go is located in the parking lot of a closed ARCO gas station.
Heather's Coffee Shop is next to an auto detail business and
across the road from car dealerships.
Baristas "World Famous Costume Coffee" is right outside
the door of the Royal "A" Motel.
Between you and me, this wouldn't be my first choice for lodging.
We found Jump Shot Espresso in the parking lot
of a small shopping center.
There's an antique store right across the parking lot
from Sweet Cheeks Espresso. (Bikini baristas.)
On this beautiful day Mount Rainier was out in all its glory.
We never get tired of seeing it!

Here's the link to my earlier posting of coffee kiosks: HERE

I hope you enjoyed another tour of the coffee emporiums in my little area of the Pacific Northwest. One of these days I'll stop by and do taste tests of their offerings!

  1. There was a coffee kiosk in my town for awhile, but it apparently didn't fly because now it's an ice cream kiosk!

    1. Coffee is big in the Pacific Northwest. Hard to believe these coffee shops can thrive in Starbucksland.

  2. Looks like you're having fun with this project, Sandy. I'm enjoying your photos and look forward to seeing more. "Shipping Center"? AmEx? UPS? Typo? Off the subject--I love a good antique shop, what's the name of the shop across from Sweet Cheeks?

I've given up trying to be anything but "Anonymous." Dace

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my anonymous friend, and thanks for catching my typo. I fixed it. Jump Shot is indeed located in a shopping center, not a shipping center. What a difference one letter makes. Here's a link to the Google map showing the location of the antique store -- Ye Ole Barn Emporium. I've never been in there so I can't vouch for whether it's a "good" antique shop or not. https://www.google.com/maps/place/5015+Auburn+Way+N/@47.352035,-122.227866,3a,90y,242h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sD-NBb2fcLCOj-lQLP99sDg!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x549059178b50c705:0x13fdb614f19ac876!6m1!1e1?hl=en

  3. I love the quirky coffee shops, but Mt Rainier is truly amazing!! (I had to google it to find out where you are in the US)! Have you been closer/climbed it?

    1. We've been to Mount Rainier National Park many times. It's beautiful in all seasons -- in fall when the leaves start to turn, in summer when wildflowers emerge. Since I don't like driving in snow, I prefer not to go there in winter. As for climbing the mountain -- no way!

  4. I am certain that all of these places are super busy in the morning and makes up for a slower afternoon trade. I think a lot of people prefer these smaller places as they are easy to get to and you can be in and out much quicker than a Starbucks so that helps them stay in business.

    1. I'm sure you're right, Sean. Their morning traffic must be heavy since there are so many kiosks along the main routes. I imagine most of these coffee shops have regular customers that they get to know.

  5. I'm not a coffee drinker, but like the cute huts, but Mt Rainier is so much more gorgeous.

    1. Sometimes we can't see Mount Rainier for weeks in the wintertime because of overcast skies. So when it's finally out, it's a nice surprise. I have better pictures of The Mountain, but this is one we took while tooling around, looking for coffee shops.

  6. Thanks for sharing these! For all the fanfare about Starbucks, I would take a good cuppa joe from a small shop any day. You are in a lovely part of the country. My son enjoyed his trip there last year and wants me to go with him sometime to visit Seattle/Puget Sound.

  8. Enjoyed your tour of coffee kiosks. We have a few in our little town too. But Starbucks is the place ( always with a huge line) followed by a local owned business called City Brew, my favorite. Wyoming Morning Latte, grande please. Oh, and make it "as skinny as possible" LOL

    1. My favorite Starbucks product is chai tea latte -- a great warm-up on a cold drizzly day.

  9. I am a big fan of coffee, and these kiosks look like places I would love to visit...everyday! Thanks for sharing. My favorite would be the one across from the antique store!

    1. I enjoy coffee too, but I prefer sitting in a little cafe, sipping coffee while talking to a friend. However, if I weren't retired, I'm sure I'd find a favorite drive-through kiosk and visit it daily on my way to work.

  10. For a while now, I have harbored a desire to travel to Seattle and do nothing but travel to all the coffee shops and drink copious amounts of coffee. :) :) Thanks for sharing the photos and for stopping by our blog.

    1. If you do visit Seattle, you definitely won't have a problem finding a coffee shop! I'm glad you enjoyed my photos of a few of the dozens in my little town.

  11. How fun. We have a lot of coffee kiosks in Portland, too--I may have to 'steal' your idea and go on a coffee safari myself!

  12. These are adorable. Great shots. Wish we had that many coffee kiosks, but I do love to sit in a cozy coffee shop. Here's Mine

  13. I love these pics! We don't have anything like that here (Cleveland). Makes me want to get out west to Washington even more :)
